prowlerFreekhey gang, my question is pretty much the topic, when will the prowlers price hit rock bottom, and then rise again? in the fall i will be getting my first prowler ( VERY EXCITED! ) and im wandering if we are going to see prowlers hitting 20-25k or is 30k pretty much it? i still cant believe they are as low as they are anyways, but hey, its a perfect time to buy i suppose!

ps. im not referring to wrecked high mileage prowlers, but decent ones in good to excellent condition

Bcoffman Gray GhostMy 5000 mile 2001 Kat will be for sale for $1.00. But only to my grandson, when I think he is ready for it. He is now 11 years old.
ed monahanInterest rates are starting to very slowly creep up and the stock market is stabilized, SLIGHTLY so this may be the bottom with things looking up. Who knows for sure?
KatAddictRecently a 99 Red one with 47 miles went at the auction for 25K
CTProwler**** !!!I would have Paid $26000 no problem!!!!

idiveI got one for free. Picked it up at the museum not long ago. Of, course, if you want one over 2 3/4" long, you'll have to pay for it. Which reminds me... Iraq is now getting into capitalism and recently came out with their own vehicles for sale for $2995... (Now, if you want the luxury of a 2nd hump, those cost a little more.)

it is about time you get your car....LOL...I'm hoping they are close to rock bottom now and will hold their value and right before I want to sell skyrocket.......

KatAddict,

If that is the one from a St. Louis dealer, I offered the guy $35K for it back in October last year, and he wouldn't take it. It was also red and had 47 miles on the clock.

Richard Jackson"it is about time you get your car....LOL...I'm hoping they are close to rock bottom now and will hold their value and right before I want to sell skyrocket......."

Larry, whata ya mean sell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dale BeamanDecide what you want to pay and then spot one for sale and watch it. I bought mine used from a FORD dealer in October who didn't want to carry it over the winter. It had been on his lot since July and the price dropped from $39,900 to $36,900 and then $35,900 and I got it for $29,900! It only had 4300 miles!
Richard JacksonBlubyu, I admire your patience, I couldn't have waited. I would have lost sleep every night thinking about that car.

Richard

Dale BeamanRichard, As the second poorest Prowler owner that was my limit and all I could afford was patience. To be honest I was shocked when the dealer said yes to my offer! :-)
prowlerFreekwow, i might have a shot as 3rd poorest owner soon!!!
CTProwler I was happy getting my two for around $36000!!! 2002-(1200 miles) and 2001 (200 miles) Especially when sticker was $45000 and many sold for more. I think because they are such a 1 person car (no trunk) people buy one not thinking about all the restrictions that come with it. Then they end up selling them. Prowlers are really a 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th vehicle to most POA members. (I Think!)

Miguel J NavarroTheres a 97 purple prowler on ebay right now with the otion to buy it now for 27k!!! I think thats the cheapest ive seen so far. Well unless its wrecked then ive seen them go for 17k.

------------------

idiveYea, but I think it has 33K miles on it too.

Doug WilliamsI was pleasantly surprised to see a 99 Red Kat on e-bay with a Trailer, selling for $36K, and still not meeting the reserve. I payed $33,900.00 for the identical pair last November in Madison Wisconsin, and drove it back to Vegas. Perhaps the market is getting better??? Doug
Marty UsherProwlerFreek - my guess - purely a guess I maight add - is that the lowest price you will find on low mileage (under 10,000 miles) will be in the upper 20K range and will reach that in the next few years before prices start to rise. Naturally, cars with less than 1000 miles will be the first to see an increase in value. Higher mileage cars (like mine) and those with many modifications (like mine) will never see their value return to sticker price again in our lifetime.

I guess you can determine I didn't buy my Prowler as an investment - it's too much fun to drive. :D Besides, Rebecca is a financial advisor and I could NEVER make a case for "Honey I bought this car as an investment" !

Happy Prowling

CTProwlerThe way i always looked at it is this. I bought a 87 Vette in 89 for $20000. 4000 miles. I put on 10000 miles and kept it for 4 yrs and sold it for $19000. How can you beat that! $1000 divided by 48 months = $20.80 month. Your not going to know what your Kat's cost basis is until you sell it. I certainly didn't ever buy it as an investment. I bought it to drive in nice weather and enjoy. Of course the older they get the more they will be worth, with mileage and condition being a big factor.

YellowFeverSome dealers still have new ones that are now approching 2+ years old. Some of these are selling for mid 30's.

I'd be willing to bet that prices in alot of areas will drop again come Aug/Sep when dealers decide they don't want to floorplan a convertible for the winter.

While a nice car, I think the market for those that wanted one is pretty well saturated so the prices will keep dropping to find a new market who couldn't afford one in the $40-50's

One thing is that while some of us drive them daily, it really isn't a practical car for most. This means it has to be secondary transporation and alot of folks can't afford or want a 2-3-4 play car.

Another detractor is that they aren't made anymore. Yes, I know that makes them more scarce but, it also means to alot of folks that parts might be scarce too if needed or vehicle wrecked.

That is not to say that there isn't the rare story of 1 here or there selling for more but, overall I think the price will still decline albeit not as rapidly, over the next 10 years.

Of course if you never plan on selling yours, what difference does it make what it's worth? You get the same enjoyment driving it whether it's worth 1 dollar or 1 million. (of course you might be more careful driving it with the later....)
